Page Title (Meta Title):
Page title is treated as one of the most important factor in SEO and it should contain your focus keywords not more than 1 – 2 times to avoid keyword stuffing.
Page Title is the most outstanding phrase that expels what is your business about? It is like your real name that other people will find you. It must be trending, meaningful, descriptive with 50 – 55 characters as per the search engine algorithm.
Each and every page in your website must have a unique page title. Page Title will be shown as highlighted text in Search snippet of search results.
So, here the description part comes where you can give a little more explanation in one or two line about your website. Neither try more descriptive with not more than 155 characters in Meta description tag which is search engine friendly. Most search engine bots use to truncate the extra words more than 156characters.
Meta description will be shown in the search results page and it should be written in convincing visitors to click on your website in their search results thereby giving more conversion ratio thus results in more clicks.
Keyword might me single word, or two word or even three to four word phrase and not more than 180 characters is found to be search engine friendly keywords. Today, Google declared that Meta Keywords are not that much important in website ranking as because in olden days search engine bots use to rank websites with higher search related keyword density containing web pages.
Many web masters took this as an advantage and inserted more number of keywords in their pages which gives annoying experience to users resulting in they did not get the results what they want. But search engines become more clever today and they set maximum keyword density should be 1 – 2% in a page.
Though Google not taking meta keyword into consideration still Yahoo and Bing search engine consider Meta Keywords in ranking a website.
It is an important Meta tag to be declared in each and every page of a website. This tells search engine bots whether to index a webpage and to follow the links or not. Also it tells particularly to generate ODP snippet or their own snippet in their search results.
Always use Title tags as page URL.
Include search engine friendly URL structure for your web pages which helps search engines bots finding your website easily for better crawling. Avoid Underscores and stop words in your URL but include related search keywords in your URL structure. Keep your URL character size similar to title tag of your web page.
Creating internal connections among different pages in your website provides a better user experience in your website thereby creating higher user interactions thus results in higher ranking in search results. 2016 brought many changes in SEO and search engine bots rank websites that is having greater user experience.
It only gives more value to your website but helps to boost your ranking by passing link juices among the different pages in your website.
When you are about to write an article about a topic you should break your contents into smaller sections such as paragraphs which will be easier for visitors to read and also give them information on what is your article is about? These paragraphs should be named and those was called as Header tags such as H1, H2 … … … … H6.
In general, H1 tag is reserved for Page Title. Meta Title and page title should be name. Meta Title is for Search Engine bots and page title is for people. In my view, I use H2 Tag to describe Meta Description which adds more value to our web page. Ofcourse you can try this thing and remember H2 tag should not contain more than 120 characters.
Rest be sure to write other header tags in their generic sequence such H3 , H4 , H5 , H6. This way many crawlers will find easy to evaluate your webpage for ranking.
Your article should contain Meta keywords or focused keywords that were spread over your article naturally will give more value to your web pages to rank better. In other hand, don’t over use your keywords excessively and try to maintain a relevant keyword density of not more than 1 – 2%.
Use your keywords in page title, Meta description tag, header tags, first and last sentence of your article, and in between the paragraphs. If you were in situation to repeat your keyword often, rather use thesaurus to insert synonym words for your keyword without the risk of penalty.
People find boring in reading a lengthy article without images. One image can easily inform your webpage rather than explaining in a very lengthy article. Give a visual appealing to your articles with images by breaking up texts. But for search engine bots can’t able to read the text in the images and hence we need to use “Alt tags” for images where we can tell search engine about the image.
You can use your keyword in your image alt tags to improve your site SEO. Treat image alt tags as page title and give equal importance to them.
Sitemap is a file in XML format which contains the list of all pages of a web site where the web crawlers use to crawl at a very first when visiting a website. Use Google page Speed insights to analyze those factors that delaying your web page loading and try to fix all the possible errors. This gives us a chance to give equal importance to both search engines and help us to analyze the issues clearly.
Effective content and use of canonical tag:
Days have changed the search engines to look for detailed, lengthy informative content of more than 1500 – 2000 words to rank a website higher over other websites. In olden days, an article content might be enough within 500 – 800 words for ranking but you cannot survive now if you still follow this.
Be a little more expressive in writing your article and provide some more deep insights analytics about the topic you have written can easily improve your website rankings, site traffic and gives more conversion ratio.
Also, use of canonical tag is more important when coming for On-page SEO. Because it tells the search engines bots about the original content. Use of this tag will save you from being penalised for duplicate content. You can see what google says about the use of rel=canonical tag in their forum.
